Building the Perfect Pool for your Home in Thailand

In Thailand the climate is hot and humid. We get regular queries from clients regarding swimming pools.

At present the Thai Home Design team are busy constructing this unique swimming pool and sala at a site in Hua Hin.

This new Pool Sala and Pool are Shaping up nicely …

A swimming pool can make a great addition to your property, and add significant resale value.

Planning your pool…

Plan the location of your pool. Pool dimensions will be dependent on your plot size. Keep in mind that installing a pool may require certain features from your garden to be removed.

Pool Design …

How do you want your pool to look. Shape? Depth? Colour schemes? Lighting? Decking? These are important details to be decided prior to commencing the build.

Pool Foundations…

Most swimming pools in Thailand are built using poured concrete. Concrete is durable and strong. If your pool will be used regularly, using concrete will cut costs of repairs in the long term.

Excavation…

The team will begin by marking the area and then excavating. To do this, heavy machinery will be needed. Excavation is one of the most important parts of the building process, as the installation of other components depends upon it.

Grading…

Once excavation is complete, the next step is to ensure the ground is even. A gravel base is laid and then compressed.
There are different ways of grading a pool depending on  if the pool has a flat bottom or an angled bottom.

Frame Work…

With the ground excavated and the grading complete, next comes the forming of the sides of the pool. The team will set rebar and boards around the circumference of the pool. This provides support.

Plumbing…

The team will set up the pool’s water circulation and filtration systems. This will include components like the 2 and 3 way valves, drainage, skimmers and the main pump for filling, emptying, and moving water around pool.

Wiring…

Our team will install power to the pool, which will power the filtration system and any lighting elements.

Lining and finishing the pool…

Once plumbing and electrical fixtures are installed, the team will pour concrete over the forms. The team will grade and smooth the concrete manually whilst it’s wet. The pool floor and walls will then be finished with your choice of tiles, along with the material selected for the pools edge i.e sandwash, tiles, decking etc.

Filling the pool…

With construction complete, its time to fill the pool! You can use a hose from your properties water supply, or rent a water truck.
Whilst the completed pool is filling, the team will check for leaks, plumbing issues and any other problems. If you discover an issue, contact us, and the team will investigate.

Maintaining the pool…

A water testing kit is used to find the pH level of the water. Depending on the pool system you selected, chlorine, salt or any other chemicals required can be added to bring the water to the correct levels for safe swimming. You can buy a water testing kit in any pool shop.

If you’re unsure about doing this alone, contact us, and we can recommend a pool maintenance company for assistance.
